We are exhausted to announce that we have one of our two babies at home with us as of last night! We received the news that Nicolas would be discharged yesterday morning so it was a bit of a hectic day. Jeff scrambled to rid the car of all dog hair and we made a Target run for some baby necessities. When we got to the hospital we spent some time with Blake and explained to him that he would be coming home soon! The Dr. thinks he might be ready to come home this weekend. **Fingers Crossed** It was very bittersweet leaving the hospital with one baby.
Anyways, we put Nico in his carseat and he looks so tiny in it! We readjusted him several times before we started driving. I sat in the backseat with him and held his little head as he bumped up and down continuously. He didn't seem too phased, but I thought it looked uncomfortable!
The dogs were quite excited to meet this new member of the family. They smelled him and Bella likes to lie down wherever I am sitting with him. They were a little startled when Nicolas showed off his lung power in the middle of the night.
Oh yes, the middle of the night. I guess I should say, all hours of the night! Nicolas likes to eat, a lot and often! I managed to keep him fed with a combination of nursing and bottles. So between feedings and 3 outfit changes due to milk/ potty messes, we'll just say I got a good taste of what it's like to be the mom of a newborn! He is just so precious though and he seems happy to be home! (Now that he is sleeping peacefully!) I'm hoping Jeff gets well soon so he can be more involved in the nighttime routine, especially when Blake comes home.
So,for now, I am trying to manage caring for Nicolas at home while still seeing Blake at the hospital 3o minutes away! Oh, Blake is up to 3 lbs 13 ozs and should be able to regulate his own body temp in the next few days, which means he will move into a "big boy" crib!!
Jeff had to photograph the nurse removing all of Nico's cords and me struggling to put him into his "going home" outfit! Hopefully he'll be able to post some of those soon!
So we will try to establish some sort of routine and hope that Blake just jumps right in when he gets home. I know, probably wishful thinking, but one can hope!
We'll keep you posted!
Love,
Rebeca

I'm just so excited for you and Jeff to be able to have Nico at home. Blake is very busy growing and will never remember these few days away from his brother.
Happy happy joy joy!!
Congratulations on having that "new mom" feeling that comes with finally taking a baby home! There's nothing like it! And just when you get it all figured out with one baby... Blake will come home to throw you all off! (in a wonderful way, of course!) Thinking of you, Beth
