Finally!

Hello family and friends! After many, many months of frustration, dr's appointments, acupuncture sessions, and various other things I won't get into, we are thrilled to be able to announce that we are expanding our family. We decided to start this blog to keep all of you updated (and maybe a little entertained!) on our pregnancy journey.

I joyfully waved goodbye to the first trimester and I will be 15 weeks pregnant on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I have not been able to wave goodbye to the "all-day sickness" that has plagued me since I was about 5 and half weeks. I chuckle because just a few days before it hit, I was at my acupuncture appointment and my practitioner asked me how I was feeling. I told her "I feel great! Maybe I will be one of those lucky women who never gets morning sickness." Little did I know that the following week I would lose 10 pounds due to my progesterone poisoning. My Dr became a little concerned at the sudden weight loss and prescribed an anti-nausea drug called Zofran. I was a bit worried about taking this medication during pregnancy, but after doing some research, I discovered that it is commonly given to women who have nausea to the degree that I have it. And while it hasn't made me feel "great", it MOSTLY keeps me from throwing up and I have been able to gain most of those 10 pounds back.

My belly is starting to pooch out and I either wear maternity pants, my old pants with a "belly band" that amazingly keeps them up without being zipped or buttoned or loose skirts/ dresses. Amazingly, we do not have a belly picture yet. Jeff is still in the midst of his busy season and between working and taking care of me, the house and the dogs, we haven't gotten there yet. Soon, I promise!!

Okay, enough rambling for now! I am about to write next week's parent letter where I give the news to my families. Wish me luck, I've been nervous about this for a while!

Love to all- Rebeca and Jeff

Glad to hear you're gaining that weight back. I think I told you I had morning sickness until my 18th week. The end of it is near; I promise! Taking the meds will soon be a thing of the past...

I hope your "morning" sickness has started to fade. You deserve to eat to your heart's content and actually enjoy it!
