OMG!! We now have TWO TWO year olds in our house!

Believe it or not, the boys turned two years old as of 5:58 and 5:59 pm today. It's hard to really come to terms with the fact that we now have these "children" and our baby days are far behind us.

Everyone tells you that time goes by so fast when you are raising young children. And really it does. Trust me, there are days when Jeff and I are so exhausted by the task of keeping up with raising two very energetic toddlers that we can hear the clock in our heads counting down the minutes until bedtime. But after spending the last 2 hours downloading pictures onto my computer, I really am amazed by what has gone on here at our house, here in our lives, over the last two years.

We started off with these fragile little beings who were so dependent on us for EVERYTHING. I was joking with Jeff tonight about how hard it was for me after the c-section. The night they were born, all I could physically manage to do was push the trigger button on my morphine drip. There was no chance of me going to the NICU to see my babies. I felt so horrible that I couldn't be with them that first night of their lives. Someone should have told me, though, not to worry, I would be with them almost every waking (and sleeping) moment for a very, very long time. (of course, I probably wouldn't have appreciated the humor at that moment!)

So here we are February 5, 2011. We had a very lovely day today. We took the boys to a Chinese New Year celebration at our local library. They were quite entertained by the lion dancers. Nicolas, being the vocal little child that he is, talked his gibberish through most of the presentation. After that, we took the boys to their favorite restaurant for lunch. It's this cool place that sits right on the airport. We watched planes and helicopters flying all around. Blakey decided to make friends with everyone and anyone who would give him any attention. He lovingly gave one man behind us his half-eaten french fry and he told the little boy next to us all about his cars at home. (That's just a guess since he speaks in toddlerese.) The boys opened their first gift from our good friends David and Allison.

We rushed home for nap time and time for mom to make the CUPCAKES!!! Mmmm....

We sang, we skyped with family, we opened gifts and we went night-night!
All in all, a good day. All in all, a good life!

On a hot day, I let Blakey go to town with a popsicle. He really ate the whole thing. Amazingly, all those stains came out of the shirt!

Nico also has a thing with shoes. He's wearing mine in the wagon and holding onto Jeff's at the same time.
